Review:
Tom Gates is a young boy that has quiet a strange family. His best friends name is Derek and together they go to Oakfield school.
It’s Book Week at the school and everyone is excited to be able to make their own costumes to try and win the big prize. Each year Tom and Derek go as ‘village invading monsters’, the judges never seem to like it. So, this year Tom decides do something different to impress the judges.
What I liked about the book:
I liked how it was really funny and everything kept me reading the book and wanting more
What I disliked about the book:
I didn't like how all the pictures took up the space so there were not many words for me to read, some pages had only three lines
Changes I would make:
I would keep the pictures but make them a little smaller so I could read more words
Genre:
This is part of a series of Tom Gates books written for primary school aged children
Recommended Age: 9 years and up
Author: Liz Pichon wrote this book after being inspired by all the children, teachers and librarians who's costumes she saw on various World Book Days
Score: I would give this book a 9/10 because its a very good book but too many pictures to give it a 10/10
